READ ANY GOOD BOOKS LATELY?
I don't know about you...but I love books. I love shopping for them; browsing; looking at your bookshelves; buying them and reading them.
My friend Rena and I swap books. We don't always like the same things...for example, I love historical fiction. You know the kind...'Picture this. England 1066.' That's how I got hooked on the Diana Gabaldon series...Claire and Jaimie. And Phillipa Gregory...The Other Bolyn Girl. And Lady of Hay by Barbara Erskine.
Add to that lot my 'whodunits', and anything that has to do with Israel, plus my mystical/shmystical stuff and you basically have my library.
Oh, and John, from my writing group and I share a love of fantasy fiction too. Sigh.
I just finished Joel C. Rosenberg's latest (well latest for Israel) The Copper Scrolls. Woohu!
Now I'm back to my old friends Nelson DeMille, John Lescroart and Wilbur Smith.
But, I must admit that I am also hooked on Nora Roberts. Shhhhh. Don't tell. The woman writes four books a year...FOUR. She has close to 300,000 books in print! They are all the same. And we all run to buy the next one. And if you love mysteries in future tense, then try out her series under the name of J.D. Robb.
People say you should write books like the ones you love to read. Hmmmm. My first effort (which is still in the box waiting for a rewrite) was called My Heart Told Me...the story of Bubbie Channah and her mother's life around the Second World War.
Then, came Emma Shelby is No More...which is being edited now by dear friends before going off to California. That one is the story of an American girl who meets a Muslim man and how their cultures affect their lives.
So, I guess I have to add to my list of loving books the love of writing books. AHHHHH.

I am re-reading "The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie" by Muriel Spark.
It is considered a modern day classic and its very well written.
Its a very quick read and not a long book at all.
I read it with a Scottish accent in my head.
You might enjoy it.. give it a try..the book..not the accent lol.
Although.. the Scottish accent might be cool too.

I am still reading "The Archers" 1968-1986.
Depicts life from the fictional characters of the BBC Radio programme called "The Archers" which has been on air since the 1950s
I hope you will write your book - as I feel sure it will be worthy of print.

I love my books. Some of them are like old friends and many of them I have read 4 or 5 times. I like to read books that build up my faith and I also like books about the inner workings of our minds and emotions and what makes us tick.

hi peter...i bet that is great...i think my favourite british series was Upstairs/Downstairs...and of course Are You Being Served...and I'm still hooked on Keeping Up Appearances...my favourite BBC mini-series was I, Claudius...The Palisers...Henry VIII...Anna Karenina...you get it...ahhhhhhh...but i don't know The Archers...oh, bubbie channah was hooked on Coronation Street before she moved here 10 years ago...now she's an East Ender :)

I am a Mark Twain fan and reread the collected short stories at least once a year.
I also love to read history books. I am fascinated with the world and the civilizations that were before.

I am just reading a very very interesting book, (I might write about it on my blog...) It was written by a very old friend of mine, and in fact, he had sent me the book to read before he ever found a publisher...And now, it is published! It is about a very particular subject---a TV Show that he was the Producer of, which had a an extremely interesting history and was HUGELY Successful, back in th 1980's. It is called "CAGNEY & LACEY & ME", by Barney Rosenzweig. Anyone who was a fan of this show or a fan of Television in general, would be interested in this book. It is a primer about PRODUCING IN TV back in those years....Personally, I found it totally absorbing----and an easy read. It may be because of my personal interests, but I don't think it is just that. It is WONDERFULLY written and no punches are pulled! I LOVE a book that is honest, and this defiinitly is that!
The Archers is a BBC Radio programme every weekday - and even has its own internet site too called "Archers Addicts" of which I am a member as I even have a coffee mug - to confirm such!!
You have mentioned some wonderful programmes and so loved them all too!!

John Lescroart is one of my favorites... and I can't think of my others.. it's been awhile since I've read a book. Too busy - - need to take some time to read this summer!
Have you read The Hidden Diary of Marie Antoinette? Not quite as good as The Other Boleyn Girl or Constant Princess, but pretty good. Also a couple of amazing memoirs - The Glass Castle and Eat Pray Love. You may enjoy Jodi Picault... they are very compelling and make you think. Enjoy!
I love books too! My very favorite is a novel called "These is My Words" The Diary of Sarah Agnes Prine 1881-1901 Arizona Territories by Nancy E. Turner. COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN!
I have also read the Chronological Bible, The Bible Code, The Miracle of the Scarlet Thread, The Fourth Dimension, The Bahir, Kingdom of the Cults, The Purpose Driven Life, Jerusalem Countdown, The Mystery of the Menorah, Why I Left Jihad and.....South Beach Diet, and, and, and....Yes, I love books!
I love book about history, poems, inspirational books. I have an aunt that reads every new thing that comes out. She has one whole room is her home just for the books she loves and has read. Now she is a reader.There is a lot of that in my family. I just have my favorites. connie from Texas

Jerusalem Countdown is a book about the nuclear storm clouds gathering over Iran and Israel, casting a long shadow on America and the nations of the world. It exposes Russia, France and Germany's involvement in helping Iran achieve its goal of a nuclear holocaust and how an attack on Jerusalem will affect America, i.e. if Iran's nuclear facilities are attacked, Iran will most likely counterattack with nuclear misles or a series of dirty bombs wold to Al-Qaeda sleeper cells in America waiting for the signal to attack. He discusses the pros and cons of an American or Israeli attack upon Iran's nuclear facilities and that Iran has developed something called and EMP . This electromagnetic blanket doesn't kill people--it kills electrons by stopping every form of electricity instantly via enrighed plutonium that covers the designated area with gamma rays, cutting off all electrical power in one-billionth of a second! Can you imagine a country without electricity?
Only Americfa and Israel have the military power to stop Iran, because Russia is now helping Iran to develope their nuclear weapons. The prophet Ezekiel paints that portrait clearly in Ezekiel, chapters 38 & 39. It is basically a book dealing with lots of prophecy. He also talks about the rise of anti-semitism. The Jewish fortress of Masada; centuries of mistreatment; when the State of Israel was born; the 6-day war and the 10 prophetic signs of the End-Time World; the second exodus; who Russia's allies will be in the Ezekiel war. He includes maps and Biblical names to help the reader identify the present day countries who will be involved in the end-time events.
It's an excellent read for anyone who is curious about the future events. The book can be purchased on Amazon.com
