PAJAMA PARTY OR HOW I GAINED FIFTY POUNDS OVERNIGHT
I had a great day today! First I went and got my nails done...fancy...red against the evil eye and gold because there is nothing like gold. Well, maybe diamonds...of course diamonds!
While getting them done all of a sudden my oldest grandchild, Sweetsie Tootsie showed up. He was supposed to go to work with his dad for the day. My son and his partners bought out the Menorah Candle factory, but that area is under a code red as rockets are being fired into Sderot and my son wasn't going to take the kid into that! So, I had planned to meet him and his mom later but there he was. She went off shopping and I gave the kid my iPhone and he played games while I got gorgeous.
Then my husband took him around the shuk while I made a shiva call and then we all met up back at the house. I did the astrology column for the Jerusalem Post and the men did their stuff.
At around four thirty I took the kid downstairs to the pool in our building. I may be wrong, but I think our building is the only apartment building in the city with its own pool! When we got there no one was in the water so as a very good bubbie, I went back upstairs and got into my suit...a vision of loveliness you can be assured, and for the next hour and a half I played in the water with the kid. A great time was had by one and all.
I jumped...crawled out of the pool and we showered and dressed and ran...made our way to the makolet up the street where we proceeded on buying stuff for a pajama party. See I called his folks and told them I'm keeping the kid...well at least overnight. Sweetsie Tootsie is a wonderful kid and we kind of have a mutual love thing going here that I am so very grateful for. At about 2 1/2 he caught on to my sense of humour...and it has been fun and games ever since.
Now, I don't know about you...but my idea of a fun time at a pajama party does not include carrot sticks or cucumber sandwiches. We had fresh rolls smeared with hummus for starters. Then in a plastic bag which we snuck into my room! Potato chips...bamba (google it) and chocolate covered wafers and a bag of fudgsicles waiting for us in the freezer!
And you know what? The hell with the diet for one night. The kid and I had the best time. We watched the Olympic games and munched. We watched Wipeout and munched and laughed. We drank chocolate milk and diet coke. We ate until we couldn't eat any more and then hugged and laughed and hid the leftovers.
Some days you just let the kid inside of you out and you have no idea how much fun that can be.
Right now the child is fast asleep in my bed. Tomorrow we are off to Kever Rachel...Rachel's Tomb and then probably breakfast someplace nearby. Good to have a little kid back in the house. I don't think we'll tell his parents what our idea of a pajama party is. That way maybe they'll let me take the kid again soon. I don't think his two sisters can keep a secret so maybe when they sleep over we will do salad and eggs and toast. Sigh.
Layla tov Sweetsie Tootsie. Thank you for a fabulous day!
Have a great day...stay safe...and thanks for dropping in.
